Marklo

Marklo was the meeting place of the general assembly of the pagan Saxons, said to have been held each year on the Weser in northern Germany. The 9th-century Life of Saint Lebuin describes delegates of nobles, freemen and half-free from every district gathering there to decide on war and peace. Its location is unknown, though it has often been identified with Marklohe near Nienburg.
