Marruvium

Marruvium was the chief town of the Marsi, on the eastern shore of the Fucine Lake in central Italy, at modern San Benedetto dei Marsi. After the Social War it became a Roman municipium. Remains of walls, an amphitheatre and tombs survive, and it was later the seat of the bishops of the Marsi.
