Mazouna

Mazouna is a small town in north-western Algeria, in the Dahra hills east of Oran. From 1563 it was the first seat of the Ottoman Beylik of the West, before the capital moved to Mascara around 1700. It was known as a centre of religious learning, with a madrasa that trained scholars of Maliki law.
