Mestwin II

c. 1220–1294 · 13th century · Also known as Mściwój II

Mestwin II (Mściwój II) was the last duke of Pomerelia from the native Samborides dynasty, ruling the whole of Gdańsk Pomerania from 1271 to 1294. Lacking sons, he named Przemysł II of Greater Poland his heir in the Treaty of Kępno of 1282. His death in 1294 opened a contest for the duchy that ended with its seizure by the Teutonic Order in 1308.
