Mikulčice

Mikulčice is a village in South Moravia, Czech Republic, near which lies one of the largest fortified centres of Great Moravia, possibly its capital. Excavations since 1954 have uncovered an acropolis with a palace, at least twelve churches and some 2,500 graves, many rich in jewellery and weapons, from the ninth century.
