Mikulov

Also known as Nikolsburg

Mikulov, German Nikolsburg, is a town in South Moravia near the Austrian border, known for its castle, its vineyards and its historic Jewish community, long the seat of the chief rabbi of Moravia. The castle was held by the Dietrichstein family from 1575. In July 1866 the preliminary peace ending the Austro-Prussian War was signed there.
