Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue
The Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue in Willemstad, Curaçao, houses the oldest Jewish congregation in continuous existence in the Americas, founded by Sephardic Jews from Amsterdam in the 1650s. The present building, known as the Snoa, was dedicated in 1732 and is the oldest synagogue in continuous use in the Americas. Its floor is covered with sand, a tradition shared with a few other Sephardic synagogues of the Caribbean.
