Battle of Pressburg

907 · 10th century · Part of the Hungarian invasions of Europe

The Battle of Pressburg was fought on 4 July 907 near Pressburg, modern Bratislava, when a Hungarian army destroyed a large Bavarian force under Margrave Luitpold, who was killed with many nobles and bishops. The victory secured the Hungarians' hold on the Carpathian Basin, and Great Moravia disappears from the written record at about this time.
