Mino Province
Mino Province was an old province of central Japan, corresponding to the southern part of modern Gifu Prefecture. Its rich farmland and its position on the routes between eastern Japan and Kyoto made it valuable; it was ruled by the Toki family as governors, seized by Saito Dosan in the 1540s and conquered by Oda Nobunaga in 1567. The Battle of Sekigahara of 1600 was fought within it.
