Minturnae
Minturnae was an ancient town near the mouth of the Liris, now the Garigliano, in southern Lazio, Italy. Originally an Auruncan settlement, it was destroyed by Rome in 314 BCE, and a Roman colony was founded there in 296 BCE. The fugitive Gaius Marius hid in its marshes in 88 BCE. Its excavated remains include a forum, a theatre and an aqueduct.
