Mirian III of Iberia

4th century · 4th century

Mirian III was king of Iberia, or Kartli, in eastern Georgia in the early 4th century and the first Christian ruler of the country. Georgian tradition, which echoes an account by the church historian Rufinus, holds that he and his wife Nana were converted through Saint Nino in the 320s or 330s. He is regarded as founder of the Chosroid dynasty and is venerated as a saint.
