4th century · 4th century · Also known as Saint Nina, Nino of Cappadocia

Saint Nino was a woman, traditionally from Cappadocia, who brought Christianity to the Kingdom of Iberia in eastern Georgia in the early 4th century. According to tradition her healing of Queen Nana and her prayers led King Mirian III to adopt Christianity. Her grapevine cross became a symbol of the Georgian Orthodox Church, and she is buried at Bodbe monastery in Kakheti.
