Mithridates II of Parthia

d. 91 BCE · 2nd century BCE

Mithridates II was king of the Parthian Empire from about 124 to 91 BCE. He restored Parthian power after the defeats of his predecessors by the Saka, subdued the nomads and settled many of them in Sakastan, and pushed the western frontier to the Euphrates. He received an embassy from Han China, took the title King of Kings and made the first Parthian agreement with Rome, through Sulla, in about 96 BCE.
