Mohamoud Ali Shire was sultan of the Warsangali in the Sanaag region of northern Somalia in the early 20th century. He supported the Dervish movement of Mohammed Abdullah Hassan against British rule, and in 1920, after the defeat of the Dervishes, the British exiled him to the Seychelles. He was later allowed to return to Somaliland, where he remained a respected traditional leader.
