Sanaag is a region of northern Somalia on the Gulf of Aden, with its capital at Erigavo. It includes the Cal Madow mountains and the historic port of Las Khorey, and was the homeland of the Warsangali Sultanate. Part of British Somaliland until 1960, it is claimed by both the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and Puntland, which control different parts of it.
