Monasterboice

Monasterboice is a ruined early medieval monastery in County Louth, Ireland, north of Drogheda, founded according to tradition by St Buite in the late 5th century. It is best known for its high crosses, above all Muiredach's Cross of the 10th century, one of the finest in Ireland, and for a tall round tower. The monastery declined after the founding of nearby Mellifont Abbey in 1142.
