River Boyne

The River Boyne flows about 110 kilometres north-east through Kildare and Meath in Ireland to the Irish Sea at Drogheda. Its valley holds the Neolithic passage tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth, and the plain around it formed the early medieval kingdom of Brega. In 1690 William III defeated James II at the Battle of the Boyne near Oldbridge.
