Montgomery, Alabama

Montgomery is the capital of the US state of Alabama, on the Alabama River. In February 1861 delegates of seceding states met there to form the Confederate States of America, and it was the Confederate capital until May 1861. The Montgomery bus boycott of 1955–1956, led by Martin Luther King Jr., was a turning point of the civil rights movement.
