Moran people

The Moran are an indigenous people of upper Assam in north-eastern India, who once spoke a Bodo-Garo language now largely replaced by Assamese. They were among the first peoples absorbed into the Ahom kingdom after Sukaphaa's arrival in the 13th century. Many later became disciples of the Moamara satra and formed the core of the Moamoria rebellion that began in 1769.
