Moree
Moree is a fishing town on the coast of Ghana's Central Region, a few kilometres east of Cape Coast. It was the port of the Fante kingdom of Asebu, whose rulers invited the Dutch to trade there, and in 1612 the Dutch built Fort Nassau at Moree, their first fortified post on the Gold Coast, which served as their headquarters until they took Elmina in 1637.
