Muhammad Tayrab

d. 1786 · 18th century · Also known as Tayrab ibn Ahmad Bukr

Muhammad Tayrab was sultan of Darfur from about 1752 to 1786. After wars with Wadai to the west, he led a large army east in 1785, drove the Musabba'at ruler Hashim out of Kordofan and annexed the province. He died while still on campaign, and his conquest brought Darfur into conflict with the Funj Sultanate of Sennar.
