Muqti
A muqti was a holder of an iqta, a revenue assignment granted to military officers in medieval Islamic states. In the Seljuk Empire, muqtis acted as provincial military governors, collecting revenue from their assignments to support troops. Although supposed to be non-hereditary appointees, they often became entrenched local powers.
