Musa Dagh

Musa Dagh is a mountain on the Mediterranean coast of Hatay province, Turkey, south-west of Antakya. In 1915 the Armenians of its villages resisted Ottoman deportation on its slopes for some seven weeks until French warships evacuated about 4,000 of them, an episode retold in Franz Werfel's novel 'The Forty Days of Musa Dagh'. Most of the returned villagers left for Lebanon in 1939.
