Myrcinus
Myrcinus was an ancient town of the Edonians in Thrace, near the lower Strymon river and the later site of Amphipolis. Darius I gave it to Histiaeus of Miletus as a reward for guarding the Danube bridge during the Scythian campaign, but his general Megabazus warned the king of its silver mines and timber, and Histiaeus was recalled to Susa. Aristagoras later fled there and was killed in Thrace.
