Nagara River
The Nagara is a river of central Japan that flows about 166 kilometres from the mountains of Gifu Prefecture through the city of Gifu to Ise Bay. In 1556 Saito Dosan was killed in battle beside it by the forces of his son Yoshitatsu. The river is famous for its clear water and for the cormorant fishing practised at Gifu for more than 1,300 years.
