Nagato Province
Nagato Province was an old province of Japan at the western tip of Honshu, now the western part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, including the strait port of Shimonoseki. It was held by the Ōuchi and then the Mōri, whose Chōshū Domain combined Nagato with neighbouring Suō under the Tokugawa. The name Chōshū comes from an alternative reading of Nagato.
