Suō Province
Suō Province was an old province of Japan in south-western Honshu, now the eastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It was the home of the Ōuchi clan, whose town of Yamaguchi became a cultural centre in the 15th and 16th centuries. After 1600 it formed, with Nagato, the Chōshū Domain of the Mōri, which led the overthrow of the Tokugawa shogunate.
