Yamaguchi Prefecture
Yamaguchi Prefecture is the westernmost prefecture of Honshu, Japan, with its capital at Yamaguchi city and its largest city at Shimonoseki. It was formed in 1871 from the Chōshū domain of the Mōri clan, covering the old provinces of Suō and Nagato. Its men led the Meiji Restoration, and it has produced more prime ministers of Japan than any other prefecture, including Itō Hirobumi, Satō Eisaku and Abe Shinzō.
