Nanaimo

Nanaimo is a city on the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The Hudson's Bay Company opened coal mines there in the early 1850s, bringing miners from Britain, and it became the leading coal-mining centre of the colony and later province. It is now the second-largest city on the island.
