Nanbu clan

The Nanbu clan was a Japanese warrior family of northern Mutsu, descended from the Minamoto, which ruled from Morioka as daimyo under the Tokugawa shogunate. Confirmed in its lands by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1590, it lost the Tsugaru region to its vassal Ōura Tamenobu, causing a lasting feud. After siding with the northern alliance in the Boshin War of 1868 its domain was reduced.
