Nandivarman III
Nandivarman III was king of the Pallava dynasty from about 846 to 869. He defeated the Pandyas at the Battle of Tellaru, a victory celebrated in the Tamil poem Nandikkalambakam, and his reign saw active overseas trade, attested by a Tamil inscription at Takua Pa in southern Thailand. He was a patron of Tamil literature and of Shaiva and Vaishnava devotion.
