National Democratic Front (North Yemen)
The National Democratic Front was a coalition of leftist groups founded in North Yemen in 1976 in opposition to the government in Sana'a. Backed by South Yemen, it waged an armed insurgency in the central highlands from 1978 to 1982 and played a part in the brief inter-Yemeni war of 1979. Its members joined the Yemeni Socialist Party at unification in 1990.
