Nicocles of Paphos

d. c. 310 BCE · 4th century BCE

Nicocles was the last king of Paphos in Cyprus, ruling in the late 4th century BCE. He founded the harbour city of Nea Paphos and built sanctuaries. During the wars of Alexander's successors he was suspected of dealing with Antigonus, and when the forces of Ptolemy I surrounded his palace in 310 BCE he killed himself. His death ended the kingdom of Paphos.
