Nicocles of Sicyon

fl. 251 BCE · 3rd century BCE

Nicocles was tyrant of Sicyon in 251 BCE, ruling for only four months after the murder of his predecessor Paseas. He was overthrown in a night attack by the young exile Aratus, who recalled the exiles and brought Sicyon into the Achaean League as its first non-Achaean member. The coup began the league's expansion across the Peloponnese.
