Nicobar Islands
The Nicobar Islands are an archipelago in the eastern Indian Ocean, today part of India's union territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Denmark claimed them from the 18th century and made several failed attempts at settlement before giving up the claim in 1868-1869. During the Second World War Japan handed them nominally to Azad Hind.
