Andaman and Nicobar Islands
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are an archipelago in the Bay of Bengal, a union territory of India with its capital at Port Blair. The British established a penal colony there after 1857, later including the Cellular Jail. Japan occupied the islands from 1942 to 1945 and handed nominal authority to Subhas Chandra Bose's Azad Hind government.
