Nijmegen

Also known as Nimwegen

Nijmegen is a city in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands, on the Waal, and claims to be the oldest city in the country. It grew from the Batavian settlement and Roman town of Ulpia Noviomagus, became an imperial residence under Charlemagne and later a city of the Duchy of Guelders. The Treaties of Nijmegen of 1678–1679 were signed there.
