Niqmaddu II

r. c. 1350–1315 BCE · 14th century BCE

Niqmaddu II was a king of Ugarit on the Syrian coast in the 14th century BCE. Formerly an Egyptian vassal, he submitted to the Hittite king Suppiluliuma I, making Ugarit a Hittite vassal for the rest of its history. Many tablets in the Ugaritic alphabet, including copies of the Baal epics, date from his reign.
