Nkongolo Mwamba

Also known as Nkongolo

Nkongolo Mwamba is a legendary figure credited in oral tradition with founding the first centralised Luba polity in central Africa. Scholars suggest he may be a symbolic figure rather than a single historical ruler. According to tradition he was defeated and executed by Kalala Ilunga, founder of the Second Luba Dynasty of the Luba Empire.
