Second Luba Dynasty

The Second Luba Dynasty was the ruling line of the Luba Empire established by Kalala Ilunga around 1585, after he defeated and executed the earlier ruler Nkongolo. It introduced a sacred kingship system known as the balopwe. Accounts of the Luba Empire describe it as the foundation of the empire's state structures.
