North India

North India is the northern region of the Indian subcontinent, including the Indo-Gangetic plain. It has been the heartland of successive empires based at Delhi and Agra. Babur exploited its political fragmentation and the weakness of the Delhi Sultanate to found the Mughal Empire in 1526.
