Nueces River
The Nueces River is a river of southern Texas that flows south-east into Nueces Bay and Corpus Christi Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. Under Spanish rule it marked the approximate northern limit of the province of Nuevo Santander. After Texan independence Mexico treated the Nueces as the boundary of Texas, and the disputed land between it and the Rio Grande became a cause of the Mexican–American War in 1846.
