Octavian's Illyrian campaign
Octavian's Illyrian campaign of 35–33 BCE was a series of Roman operations led by the future Augustus along the eastern Adriatic and in its hinterland. He subdued the Iapydes, was wounded at the siege of their stronghold Metulum, took the Pannonian town of Siscia and defeated the Delmatae. The campaign secured Italy's north-eastern frontier and strengthened his military reputation before the war with Mark Antony.
