Oder–Neisse line

1945 · 20th century

The Oder–Neisse line is the border between Germany and Poland, following the Oder and Lusatian Neisse rivers. Agreed provisionally at the Potsdam Conference in 1945, it placed the former German lands to the east under Polish and Soviet administration, and millions of Germans were expelled from them. East Germany recognised it in 1950 and West Germany in 1970, and reunited Germany confirmed it by treaty in 1990.
