Okahandja
Okahandja is a town in central Namibia, about 70 km north of Windhoek. It became the seat of the Herero paramount chiefs under Maharero in the 19th century, and the graves of Herero leaders there are the focus of the annual Herero Day commemoration in August. The peace concluded there in 1870 ended a decade of war between the Herero and the Oorlam Afrikaners.
