Old Persian
Old Persian is the ancient Iranian language of the Achaemenid kings, written in a cuneiform script. It appears in royal inscriptions such as the Behistun Inscription of Darius I. There it stands alongside Elamite and Babylonian, reflecting the absorption of the Elamite Confederation's administrative traditions into the Achaemenid state.
