Operation Polo
Operation Polo was the Indian military operation of 13-18 September 1948 that ended the independence of Hyderabad State, whose Nizam had refused to join India. Officially termed a police action, it took place amid violence by the Razakar militia and the Telangana peasant uprising. Hyderabad's forces surrendered on 17 September, and the state was annexed to India.
