Orlov revolt
The Orlov revolt was a Greek uprising in the Peloponnese in 1770, during the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–1774, encouraged by the Russian brothers Alexei and Fyodor Orlov, who landed with a small force. The Maniots and other Greeks rose, but Russian support was weak, and Ottoman troops, many of them Albanian irregulars, crushed the revolt and ravaged the Peloponnese for years afterwards.
