Greek War of Independence
The Greek War of Independence was a revolt by Greeks against Ottoman rule in the 1820s, which ended with international recognition of an independent Greek state in 1830. European powers intervened decisively on the Greek side. For the Ottoman Empire it was an early instance of a nationalist movement detaching territory, part of the pattern of its gradual decline.
