Oslo Accords
The Oslo Accords were the agreements of 1993 and 1995 between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, negotiated secretly in Norway, in which each side recognised the other for the first time. They created a Palestinian Authority with limited self-government in parts of the West Bank and Gaza as a step towards a final settlement within five years. The settlement never came, and the accords' interim arrangements have endured for decades as the framework of an unfinished peace.
